In addition to domestic trading of hot-rolled steel sheets, cold-rolled steel sheets, and surface-treated steel sheets, we manage and operate Japanese steel service centers, and we are an investor in a major Japanese stainless steel trading company. By handling a wide range of products, from materials to finished products, we have achieved outstanding synergy in various aspects of our operations, including procurement, inventory, processing, supply, and communication, in order to meet the domestic needs of a wide range of business partners, including electrical appliance manufacturers, construction material manufacturers, and pipe manufacturers.
Steel service centers that serve a variety of industries in Japan
In order to use thin steel sheets, they need to be processed from large coils into the correct size and shape that the customer wants to use, and this is where our steel service centers become indispensable. The steel service centers of the Sumitomo Corporation Group serve the businesses of our diverse customers throughout Japan through procurement and inventory services that utilize our Japanese and international networks, processing services that accommodate their needs, and logistics services that provide just-in-time delivery.

In addition to selling (trading) normal steel sheets and stainless steel sheets of all kinds for automobile-related customers, we also operate steel service centers. In conjunction with the remarkable advancement of the automobile industry, particularly with the development of vehicles that use new sources of energy, we are building systems and developing new business operations that will satisfy the advanced needs of our customers through enhancements and upgrades to the processing capabilities of our steel service center business and by supplying the proper materials to those companies.
Mechanical Tubular Products Business
To be a global solution provider specializing in mechanical tubular products
We provide tubular products made to customer specifications, including critical safety components, for automobiles, construction machinery, and industrial machinery in particular, delivering it directly to our customers’ production sites in Japan and overseas with optimal QCDS (quality, cost, delivery, and service). We offer support for technological innovation at the forefront of the logistics industry in order to accurately satisfy the diverse needs of our business partners. We will make efforts toward further advancement of our specialized expertise and build out our supply chain in cooperation with related business groups within the Sumitomo Corporation Group.
Specialty Tubular Products Business
We supply steel tubular products for energy plants, an important part of social infrastructure.
The customers we supply specialty tubular products to include heavy industries, oil companies, engineering companies, and fabricators around the world — industries that are essential to social infrastructure — with a particular focus on thermal and nuclear power plants, petroleum refining, petrochemicals, and liquefied natural gas energy plants. In light of the structural transformation of the energy industry, we will actively participate in new energy fields, such as wind power and the production and use of green hydrogen and ammonia for power generation, contributing broadly to society through the supply of specialty tubular products.
